Salampasu Mask – Mukinka – Original – private collection

Product Description

Salampasu Mask

Salampasu Mukinka mask from around 1900.

There are 3 periods that define Salampasu Masks, this is a piece from the middle period. Strongly visible are: a round chin, no keloïdes  and no hair nets. Even older items have a round chin, have keloïdes and are made of only wood. Younger versions are mostly commercial, for they have thicker sides, are roughly made, and vary in expression.

This is a Mukinka mask. Because it is covered in red copper (this had to be earned by the owner).

This is truly a rare piece. The mask show it’s age and use with pride.

Take note that some copper panels are a little lose or missing.
